Foundation
The Private Carrefour des Arts Foundation was created in 2008 under the impetus of contemporary art enthusiasts concerned about the difficulty young artists have in finding a context conducive to the development of their art.
Mindful of the need to provide the best conditions for serene creative work, the Foundation has from the outset focused its support to the fellows with an overall vision of their needs.
Opened in 2010, the artists' residence offers bright and convivial studios in the center of Brussels to four artists per year, selected based on their applications by a jury composed of art professionals. The young laureates can carry out their individual project while being accompanied by a professional art historian who helps them to express their vocation.
By offering them good working conditions and a privileged support, the foundation relieves the artist and allows him/her to be fulfilled in his/her vocation
A monthly grant is paid to the artists to purchase their materials and an exhibition of their work allows them to conclude the residency with a public presentation of their achievements.
Through exhibitions and other activities, the Foundation is also committed to continuing its involvement with the artists after their residency. This comprehensive and attentive commitment of the Foundation has supported the emergence of many young talents and it is proud to count among its former fellows’ artists who have been able to devote themselves to their vocation and who exhibit their work around the world.
